Journaling in a Bible is another form of Bible journaling.  I like to buy my favorite translation, not a real expensive  one, it can be from a discount book store.  This is taking your Bible and turning it into a journal that can be full of color, thoughts, and it can transform how you look at reading His amazing Word.  It is a very good way of making the Bible come alive to you personally.  As you meditate on what you can draw or write on the pages, you also begin to think on His Word and what it means to you.
You don't have to be an artist to do this.  I would get soft lead color pencils, because they won't tear the pages as easy as hard lead colored pencils.  Your favorite pen to write with.   Below are some examples that can get you started.  Remember the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy His Word.

I have many different bibles, some are for in-depth study and then others are for just reading His Word.  One of my favorite areas to read are the words Jesus spoke.  That is why I will read bibles that have His words in red letters.
In my last post I suggested reading different areas of His teachings such as miracles or the parables that Jesus spoke and the red-letter bibles are great to use because you can find them quickly.
One of my favorites is the parable of the Prodigal Son....
Luke 15:11-24 NIV
Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

I wrote that parable in my bible journal and how it affected me at the time because what is so important is when you read His Word it will speak into your life right where you are at that time.  His Word will breathe life into you because it is a Living Word.

Many times I wonder where should start in reading the Bible.  The one place I love to start and reread are the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  Then I will pick an area of Jesus's ministry and do a search on that, for example the miracles that Jesus performed during His ministry and I would look them up and read in all the places they were written in the Gospels.

I like to start with the beginning of what ever I am studying,  which for this study was when Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding,  John 2:1-11, then read the chapter before and after to get the full picture of those verses. I would write in my journal and pray on how that scripture made me feel.

The one thing that stood out to me was Jesus didn't announce "look what I did", in fact no one knew the miracle He performed except the disciples that were right there with Him and the servants who followed His instructions.  This made me feel like I never want to miss anything  Jesus Christ is doing and to be obedient to His way and direction.

So this is just another way you can Bible journal His Word and as you do this it will become apart of you more and more.

The beginning of anything we do is important and getting to know who Jesus Christ is so important in our growing relationship with Him.  Just like with anything new, one off the hardest tings is taking that first step.  I guarantee that this first step is a life changer.
